Periodontal (Gum) Treatment

Periodontal therapy is the treatment of active gum disease caused by bacteria. Bleeding and tenderness in the gums may be symptoms of periodontitis, or gum disease. Appropriate treatment can slow or stop the progression of gum disease. Since there are different stages of gum disease (from gingivitis to advanced periodontitis), there are different levels of treatment. We specialize in non-surgical treatment of gum disease which is highly effective for early to moderate periodontal problems. This therapy may include scaling and root planning, antimicrobials, antibiotics, and laser treatment. Advanced gum disease will often require more advanced surgical treatment. In these cases, the patient may be referred to a specialist.
